Welcome baby!

On July 9th, 2008 at 12:13am we welcomed Phoenix Shane into our family.
He was born by successful VBA2C! I did it!
He was 7lbs 3oz and 21″ long
This is his very first picture.

I’ll never figure out this “baby burrito” that the nurses like to put the baby in. He was really happy to get out of it. He really loves his hands. I promised not to swaddle him ever again! :-)

He is so calm and peaceful. Rarely uttering a cry that is much more than a squeak. He isn’t opening his eyes much, but when he had his very first sponge bath he woke right up and took it all in.

I still can’t believe I’m home the day after he was born. I had the most supportive doctors at the clinic I went to. They were all really rooting for me and it made all the difference in the world. i hear it’s very rare to have a team of OB’s supportive of VBAC’s, much less after two cesareans. I’m so thrilled with my decision to have a VBAC. I’m happy to report that there were no serious complications.

Welcome Home Phoenix!

Congratulations!!! He is so sweet. What a great mama you are to unswaddle him so he can have his hands. Nice about your vbac also, being supported the way you were. That was awesome. And I am partial to his birthday as it is mine too.
