Winter Migration

I’ve decided to migrate this winter.  Not only from Vermont to Washington, but from Blogspot to WordPress.  I’ve been meaning to do this for quite some time but the very thought of it caused meltdowns of epic proportions a little stress.  I didn’t have the time or the brain capacity to handle all the work involved and I was really afraid I’d lose content.  Now that we are all settled into our new home I decided to just go for it.  With the help of my sexy, knife wielding, super hero of a husband, the blog migration was fairly painless.  If you were a follower at blogspot, I *think* you will have to resign-up for upates on the right, and please bear with me as we make improvements.  If you are a new reader then please use one of the options on the right to follow me.

So yeah, follow me.  Or else…

  1. Looks great! WP does take some getting used to but all in a good way. Hopefully your readers will follow you over and you won’t have issues. Some people simply forget. I’ve seen one blog who went from blogger to WP…she would post one part and one photo from her WP post on her blogger account with a link that said “read more here”. Something to consider.

The other thing I’d consider is taking down your blogger posts. I was told by a blogging guru that Google and other spiders will or could tag your site as spam if they see identical posts and know your old same is the original….or something like that.

That’s probably a good idea. I’m going to leave it for a bit since I posted a “follow me” to WordPress kind of post today.

  2. P.S. One of the only pitfalls is that your old comments don’t link to the author anymore. But, if you’re so inclined and have too much free time on your hands, WP does allow you to edit comments, so you could add their links back in. ha

That DOES stink! It’s something to work on for sure.
